What is VAT-Free Shopping?
Visiting from outside the UK? You can enjoy VAT‑free shopping at Browns. Simply select your favourite pieces in-store and we’ll take care of removing the UK VAT when your purchases are exported. This means you’ll only pay for the price of the goods, excluding VAT.
How It Works
- Browse our store and choose the pieces you love.
- Let us know you’re shopping for export. Just tell one of our friendly team members and we’ll guide you through the VAT‑free process.
- Eligible purchases will have the UK VAT removed from the price.
- We’ll ship your items straight to your overseas address for a flat-rate shipping fee. All shipments are Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), so you’ll handle any import taxes or duties in your country.
Virtual Personal Shopping
If you can’t visit us in person, don’t worry! Our Personal Shopping team is here to help you shop from anywhere. Through our Virtual Shopping service, you can browse and select items remotely, and our team will make sure your VAT‑free export purchase is handled smoothly.
Who Can Shop VAT‑Free?
Anyone living outside the UK who purchases goods in-store for export. Items taken home personally without export arrangements do not qualify.
The Small Print
UK VAT (currently 20% on most goods) is removed for qualifying in-store export purchases.
Export documentation will be completed by our team in-store.
Shipping is a flat-rate fee, and any import taxes or duties are the customer’s responsibility.
Some goods or services (such as restricted brands) may not be eligible. Our team is happy to advise you.

Can I reclaim VAT if I take the items home myself?
Unfortunately not. The UK tourist VAT-refund scheme ended on 31 December 2020.
Can I shop remotely and still purchase VAT‑free?
Absolutely! Our Personal Shopping team is ready to help you pick your favourite pieces and make sure everything qualifies for VAT‑free export.
How is shipping handled?
All purchases are shipped DDU for a flat-rate shipping fee. You are responsible for any import taxes or duties in your country.
